The Curriculum
The Master program is structured in three different cycles stretching over 8 months, from June 2005 to January 2006.
Its successful completion leads to the award of the LL.M. Diploma.
The program is held in English.
The first cycle consists of distance learning programs via the Internet, which provide all the participants with a preliminary and homogeneous background.
The three distance learning modules shall take place from June to the end of August 2005.They are based on the successfully tested DL 101 module "General Course on Intellectual Property" and on the Advanced modules on “IP and Electronic Commerce” and “Biotechnology and IP”, all designed by WIPO leading experts.
The participants shall also receive paper material to study before the beginning of the second cycle. On line examinations will close the first phase.
The second cycle – The residential portion of the program is based on the classes to be held in Turin from September 5 to December 16, 2005. Lectures will be held in the morning (9.30 a.m. – 12.30 a.m.), while the afternoon (2.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.) will be devoted to tutorials, seminars and participants’ presentations, requiring an active interaction among the participants, the tutors and the Lecturers.
Class material shall be provided to students at the beginning of the cycle, in view of the required active participation to the lectures. Class teaching shall be complemented by case-study sessions, experiments in legal drafting and the submission of a first draft of a research paper.
Three intermediate exams will be held in this section.
An exam at the beginning of the second cycle is intended to assess the level of knowledge attained during the previous cycle.
The third cycle – This section stretches from December 2005 to January 31, 2006. Each participant will be required to submit
the final version of the research paper whose preparation will have commenced during the second cycle.
Tutors will support participants in their research work and assist them in obtaining information from relevant sources.
A discussion forum set up by the participants of the different editions of the program through the existing extranet infrastructure will be an important feature of the program.
